Welcome:
Nursing is a dynamic and challenging profession. Over the past few decades, nurses have gradually adopted higher responsibilities from just being a doctor’s assistant to an integral member of the life-saving team of the hospital. Further, they need to coordinate and communicate with their team for better patient care. For assuming these higher and ever-changing roles in demanding healthcare environment, the management and leadership skills are of utmost importance for the nursing profession. Nurse leaders bridge the gap between policy and practice by ensuring quality of care in the health care systems, which calls for effective management leadership skills in nursing.
Keeping this in view, a three-month online ‘Certificate Nursing Management and Leadership’ under the overall umbrella of International Public Health Management Development Program (IPHMDP) has been conceptualized to enhance the knowledge and skills needed by senior nursing staff to be an effective manager in the healthcare settings, and equipping them with an in-depth understanding of leadership techniques that can be suitably applied in the field of nursing.
During the course, the participants will be exposed to topics ranging from Management in healthcare service organizations, Organizational behaviour, Human resource management leadership, Communication and advocacy, Planning, Monitoring and evaluation, Health Management Information system, Material Management, Quality Management, and Patient Satisfaction in hospital, Task shifting in health service delivery, Building Collaboration and network and many more. The teaching will be done through a multi-pronged adult learning pedagogy comprising live lectures, reading materials, and interactive sessions. Tests will be conducted at the end of each module. Besides this, the participants will be engaged with their peers in the discussion forums, and undertake practicum/assignments. The program faculties are eminent healthcare management professionals and experts from various public and private healthcare organizations, health care program leaders from national and international agencies, faculty from Centres of Excellence in the healthcare and management sector.
At the end of course, the participants should be able to
1. Apply diverse management skills learnt during the program in their day-to-day practice for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their organization.
2. Demonstrate leadership skills in the organization and transfer them to their peers and junior colleagues for creating an organizational culture and delivering quality healthcare.
